Sophie and Matthew at Wasing Park
Having photographed Sophie and Matthew together earlier in the year, I already knew they were a pretty laid back couple, so I was looking forward to capturing their day.
I had never worked at Wasing Park before, so I was also looking forward to exploring a new venue.
Like most the weddings I photograph, I started the day bright and early documenting Sophie and her bridesmaids getting ready within the Stables Lodge at Wasing Park.
Whenever I photograph the morning of a wedding, I always brace myself for absolute mania – but Sophie and her bridal party couldn’t have been any cooler.
The Ceremony
I might as well get this out of the way now: Matthew was probably the most emotional groom I have encountered.
Nothing wrong with that, it’s good to see a man embrace his emotions. But blimey, did he show them a lot. Usually at weddings, I am on the look out for people crying, as I feel it makes a nice memorable photo. And believe it or not, they are sometimes quite hard to capture without being intrusive…
Didn’t have that problem with Matthew.
In all seriousness, it was a lovely ceremony – everyone smiling and the natural light in the building made my job a lot easier too. 🙂
Reception
After the ceremony, followed the confetti – of which there was a lot!
Everyone then mingled outside in the early autumn air. Matthew and Sophie also hired a magician who kept their guests entertained too, which lead to some pretty amusing photos.
We then took a couple of group shots and followed by a few portraits of the happy couple.
The wedding breakfast was then served (by the amazing guys at Galloping Gourmet), followed by a number of speeches.
Sophie and Matthew then cut their cake (in front of a Krispy Kreme donut wall no less!) and then proceeded to their first dance.
All in all, it was a fantastic day. Sophie and Matthew were a fantastic couple to work with.
