Lucy and Ant’s wedding day at Rivervale

Being the second time I’ve worked at the fabulous Rivervale in Yateley, Hampshire, the venue is fast becoming one of my favourite places to work.

The Wedding at Rivervale

Back in July, I was tasked with the pleasure of photographing Lucy and Ant’s wedding.

Despite being one of the hottest days of the year (in fact, I’d say the hottest day ever, in my 37 years of living!), their wedding day was a real treat to photograph and document.

Firstly, the couple looked amazing. Secondly, Rivervale is one of the best venues a photographer could ask to work at.

It’s extremely well laid out; with it’s stunning gardens and courtyard, there is something to photograph in every corner. Also, their events team are some of the most helpful people you could entrust to organise your wedding.  If you’re considering getting married there, I sincerely recommend it.

The day

I started my day as I often do, documenting the bride and her bridesmaids getting themselves ready at Rivervale’s in-house beauty salon.

From there, it was a short walk to the main barn where the ceremony took place. While editing the images, I was reminded what a genuinely happy couple Lucy and Ant were – while taking the photographs of them signing the register, they could barely keep a straight face.

After the ceremony, I took a few portraits of the happy couple in the picturesque gardens of Rivervale.

From there, we headed back to the courtyard where their guests were. Instead of confetti, Lucy and Ant had bubbles which made for some nice images and was a result for me, because usually I get covered in confetti during those shots!

Shortly after, they headed indoors for their speeches and the wedding breakfast – a bbq, perfect for a hot summers day.

All in all, it was a real pleasure to photograph Lucy and Ant’s wedding at Rivervale.  I’m a big fan of the venue, and Lucy and Ant were a fantastic couple to work with.

The Evening

Shortly after the meal, the couple cut their cake and did their first dance.

After taking a few images of them dancing with their guests, I was about to pack up and head off. As I went out to load my car, I noticed the sun was setting across the field in front of the venue.

Looking at it, I realised I would have to kick myself if I didn’t ask the couple if they wanted a couple more portraits and take advantage of the stunning spectacle.

So with my Nikon D750 and Fuji XT1 still around my neck, I ran back into the venue, told them about the sunset and they agreed. And I am so glad they did, as they are easily my favourite images from the day.

All in all, it was a real pleasure to photograph Lucy and Ant’s wedding at Rivervale.  As I said, I’m a big fan of the venue, and Lucy and Ant were a fantastic couple to work with.

Below is a selection of my favourite images from their day.

Colin was just fantastic for our wedding day, he made us both feel so relaxed and comfortable that the time for photos just flew by! He came round a couple of months after the wedding to show us the photos and to say we were pleased is an understatement! The photos are just gorgeous and really capture the feeling of the day along with some truly beautiful photos of my husband and I. We cannot recommend him highly enough!
