Liz and Doug’s wedding at The Bull Hotel in Kent

Taking place in the late Spring of 2023, Liz and Doug’s wedding was an absolute delight of a day.
My assignment started with the bridal prep, where I documented Liz and her bridesmaids getting ready. I then took a little time to explore the venue and take a few photographs of everything being set up.
Once Liz was in her wedding dress, I then headed downstairs to capture their guests arriving for the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was quite a challenge, as the room was very tight and light was somewhat lacking. While I don’t mind using a flash, for the ceremony I don’t like to take away the focus from the couple. Firstly, the last thing anybody wants when they have vows to make, is a clicking and flashing light going off every couple of seconds and secondly, it can sometimes upset the people conducting the ceremony.
Fortunately, I brought along my new 13mm f1.4 Viltrox lens, which was an absolute god-send and enabled me to capture this shot below, of Liz and Doug, along with all their guests behind them.
All in all, it was a fantastic day and one that was a great pleasure to document.

I worked with Colin when I was a trainee journalist at a local paper and have loved watching his career in photography go from strength to strength.
In the back of my mind, I always thought how much I would like him to be my wedding photographer if I ever got married.
And it honestly was the best experience to have Colin there – he has a lovely unobtrusive way. I honestly didn’t even realise he was there when he took the pictures of my Dad seeing me in my dress for the first time!
The pictures he has taken are exceptional and will serve as a priceless reminder of an incredibly special day. Thank you so much Colin!
