Janna and David’s wedding at Patricks Barn

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of working at Patricks Barn in West Hoathly.  One of my favourite venues, which is great as I had recently been placed on their recommended suppliers list.

Having met Janna and David earlier a few months before, I was really looking forward to capturing their wedding.

For starters, they had expressed an interest in my documentary approach to photography, which is always music to my ears.

The Morning

I started the day by documenting Janna and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents house, a lovely cottage on the outskirts of Dorking which made a very picturesque backdrop for their photographs.

Once Janna and her bridesmaids were ready, we all headed towards the wedding venue, where David and their guests were waiting.

At Patricks Barn

If you’ve not been to Patricks Barn before and you are looking for somewhere to get married, you really should consider it.

It’s a 17th century barn, retaining a rustic look which is just a godsend for both couples looking for a unique location and wedding photographers like myself.

Everywhere there is something to photograph – from the 11 acre gardens to the giant Californian Redwood trees that run along the driveway, working there really is an absolute delight.

Janna and David’s ceremony took place in the gardens, under the perfect weather where it was not too hot nor too cold.

Shortly after, we took a number of group photos and portraits of the happy couple.

They then all headed towards the barn where they enjoyed the most amazing food provided by The Garden Chef.

I spent the rest of the day, doing what I enjoy most and that was documenting everything as it unfolded.  The guests playing games, socialising, laughing and finally the first dance of Janna and David.

It really was a fantastic day!
